  1. As of right now I am still midway of MYP year 5 (which is the last year of MYP) and so for me, DP will still start next school year (summer of this year) but we did already choose our DP subjects. So as for my second language, I decided to choose French ab initio (which I have no prior knowledge on) and I kinda just wanted to start learning the language so I kinda get a head start and so it will make it a bit easier for me next year. Therefore, I just wanted to ask you guys how I should start studying French (e.g. do you recommend me to learn through language-learning platforms, through textbooks, videos, etc and if so, if you can, name specific resources). I actually had started using Duolingo recently (currently lvl 8 ) but I read from somewhere that its content is a bit irrelevant to the IB's syllabus. So what do you guys recommend me to do? Thanks in advance!
  2. What are the most common paper 2 prompt topics? Im trying to focus on 3 topics in detail so i can be able to pick one on the exam and do well on it.
  3. So, i had my IB french teacher, before i joined IB and she wasnt that bad, but she isnt a good IB teacher. I feel like she doesnt even know whats really required for us to do for IB french ab initio, and im getting really scared.. Can anyone tell me what we should know at the end of the two years of IB french? things that we NEED to know to be ready for the test... I feel like all our class is going to fail ( its not only me thats struggling). She does really random things, and i feel like i never learn in her class.
  4. Hello everybody, I could really use some advice on my WA Topic for French AB Initio. I have thought of the following ideas. 1. Comparison between pollution in France and India. Also, measures implemented by the government to fight pollution. (Urban and Rural Environment) 2. Celebration of New Years in France and India. (Individuals and Society) 3. Natural resources of France and India. (Urban and Rural Development) 4. Cuisine of France and India. (Individual and Society) I would really appreciate your opinion on the topics. Thank you for taking out your time and helping me.
  5. Hey everyone. I've literally been counting down the minutes till I could post about the French AB Initio paper 1 exam. Only 3 people in my school take it (including me) and I was the only one with different answers (especially the true or false bit). Anyway, I found text C the most difficult one because that wording was all meant to be a trap. What did you guys think?
  6. Hey guys! I'm struggling in picking my group 2 language choice. I'm vacillating between Chinese B SL, Chinese ab initio or French ab initio. I've been learning Chinese for almost 3 years however, my studies were kind of limited as I had a horrible teacher in my previous classes. She didn't even speak English! Anyway, some people say that Chinese ab initio is too easy, it's like simple things like "Ni Hao" and really basic Chinese. I know basic Chinese and I can usually understand what people are saying, it's just the responding back part that I need to work on. I was thinking of going to Chinese B SL but I'm not sure if I'll keep up, maybe it'll be too hard for me? I'm more worried about the oral tests. I'm currently studying Chinese Made Easy Textbooks 2-4. I'll be learning my chinese all summer and I might get a home tutor. If there's anyone who's taking Chinese B SL, what are you guys learning? What textbooks do you use? Is it difficult? I'm also deciding if I should just take French ab initio. I was thinking since I might get a home tutor, I can study my Chinese at home instead and just study French at school. Many people say that French is very challenging though, even at ab initio. Anyway, I'm not sure if I made any sense, but I'd really appreciate any advice on what to do.
