Hello people, I have an Interactive Oral --if you don't know what it is, it's an oral presentation + leading discussion by group-- on the history of the novel "Paradise of the Blind" by Duong Thu Huong. I have got Communism part of the history, and I have a few question that I need to answer. I sort of get the answer, but I am not clear how to gather my little pieces of ideas into a clear answer, since the question covers a wide field. Questions: Where does the author allude to history (communism) in the text? How are these important to our response & understanding of the text? Are there any motifs used in the text that connect to this topic? Are there any themes in the text that come out of this topic? The first two questions are very important and I have least knowledge about those two questions. Please help me, and please add some quotations and the number of chapter if you know some well-supportive questions. And please recommend me some questions that I can use for discussion leading if you have some interesting questions. Thank you so much.
boron posted a topic in Languages A1/A LiteratureHi, I have two possible topics for my WIT paper and I have no idea which would make a better paper. Here are my plans for them: Thesis 1: Garcia Marquez’s depiction of shared guilt in Chronicle of a Death Foretold serves to illustrate the peculiarities of human nature. Point 1: The routines and rituals that dominate the characters’ lives are almost animalistic. 2: The characters’ obsession with the fact that the death is fated to happen is part of what allows them to be complicit in the murder. 3: The characters experience a profound sense of guilt over the crime. Thesis 2: In Paradise of the Blind, Huong uses symbolism in order to represent unfulfilled lives in Vietnam. 1: The cripple represents lives cut short by unpredictable circumstances. 2: The duckweed flowers represent the stifling quality of Vietnam. Any advice? Thanks!
Hey everyone! I'm am beginning to find a passage for my World Lit 2 in English A1 HL and I have to choose a passage from the book Paradise of the Blind. When I read Paradise of the Blind, I did not enjoy it at all and found it difficult and boring to read. I am struggling to choose a relevant passage to write my WL2 on. Do you have any suggestions for a possible passage or a certain part of the book that would be good to write on? I am going to continue searching for passages and I will update this thread when I find possible passages. Thanks in advance, Jackson M. Indiana, USA
