  1. I am writing my EE on the negative effect of the US-China trade war on Apple, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has similar topics and I'd love to know how your EEs are going and help out with issues!

    EE HELP

Hello, I'm half way through my first year in the DP and I'm still struggling to find an interesting topic for EE on English. I wanted to take a look at The Great Gatsby, The Yellow Wallpaper or The Lord of the Flies but my sister recommended me not to do so because these texts are studied throughout the years of IB and the markers would expect an exceptional outcome towards the essay; essentially making it a little difficult for me to ace. I'm currently reading about Burmese Days by George Orwell, it talks a lot about gender, race, culture, imperialism and etc. but I'm not too sure if I'll be sticking to this one. My only option now is to take a look at other novels that perhaps incorporate politics or feminism (I feel like they'll be easier to deal with???). So, I was hoping if you guys could give me some advice on the EE and some novels I could take a look at
  3. Hi! I'm in year 11 right now and I need to submit my IB subjects options in a few weeks. I'm planning on studying economics, political science or something that joins data science with journalism and I'm wondering if these subjects are ok. HL: Economics, Langlit, Computer Science SL: Biology / ESS, Maths, Mandarin Thanks in advance!
  4. Hey! Is there anyone taking Global Politics? I have started studying for the finals and I was wondering if you guys would like to share case studies with details related to the four units that we can use to support our Paper 2 and part of Paper 1. Or we can make a study group or google doc with information. Thanks!
  5. So I'm doing my Extended Essay in Global Politics, because im genuinely interested in it and i take it at HL too. But, im kind of confused about which topic to pick. I was considering writing it about the rise of right wing populist parties in Germany, but my supervisor has asked me to come up with other topics too. I want to write my essay on something that is recent and relevant, or i'll lose interest. Any ideas?
  6. Hey guys! I'm supposed to choose a topic for my EE now and I might need a bit of help. I want to do the essay in History as its one of my favourite topics and the teacher is great! My current idea for a topic would be the rise and outreach of the Italian mafia, with a question along the lines of "How did the Italian Mafia rise to acquire such power, and how far does it spread?". Do you think this question is narrow enough? If not, how can I make it narrower? Is is appropriate for an EE? And finally, is it good to do in History with no risk that I go off into Econ or some other topic? Thank you so much for your help!
  7. Hi, I'm in desperate need of help with my written task. I need to write my WT for part 1, and I've thought about pretending to be a politician and write a speech about animal rights, where I would try to use my language as effectively as possible to make the audience believe in me. Does this sound like an acceptable idea? We've had language and politics as a topic in class so I've therefore tried to connect it to that.
  8. Hey Can someone who has global politics be good enough to help me with something I have to do for my class? Thank you in advance
  9. Hey guys! I was wondering if anybody had any kind of information about this specific university, specially le havre campus. Im planning on applying, but I have no clue on average IB score requirements, financial aid, etc. I have already look at the site. Any information is good Regards.
  10. Hey fellow IB students, I need your help in EE topic. I'd like to write it in politics, but I only take global politics, so idk if the topics: "To what extent should the UN accept the The Declaration Of Animal Rights?" or "To what extent are there sufficient arguments for not granting fundamental legal rights to non-human animals by the UN?" would be ok? The title would probably be "The political debate over animal rights". I'd analyse the arguments for and against animal rights there. What do you think? Do you have any other idea? Thanks in advance!
  11. Hi! My friend and I are starting a newspaper focused on Foreign Affairs and are looking for good writers. It definitely counts for CAS and doesn't require too much work! Email us if you're interested; we are looking for good writers with an interest in politics, foreign affairs, government or anything of the sort! [email protected] www.youngdiplomacy.com
  12. Hey everyone, I wanted to do a research questions for my global politics class on the Syrian Crisis. I've already taken many notes on it but i have yet to still find a question or something to discuss. Would Humanitarian intervention be a good topic?
  13. I'm thinking of going with the research question: Why the Turkish government denies the Armenian genocide? (refuse to acknowledge its existence). But it's not exactly narrowed down or finalized, I need some suggestions on how to finalize it before I begin my actual essay. I can't figure out if it is an appropriate research question too, I've been through almost 5 different research questions and none seem to work. I'm starting to really overthink this please help.
  14. hi guys, so i'm writing my extended essay in the area of psychology, but i really am more interested in politics (that's what i am going to college for) and i talked to my supervisor and she advised me to write about political psychology. i have a topic in mind and here it is: how can a politically driven psychological viewpoint influence the views on terrorism? the problem is, i don't know what to write on. it has to deal with psychology and modern politics, but i'm stuck. i could use a little help and i'd appreciate it greatly!!!
  15. Can my EE be on current events if the subject area is global politics? I want to do the foreign policy of the United States toward Israel. However, my supervisor said it has to be an event that is at least 10 years old. I thought that rule was only for history. Thank you!
  16. Hi all! I'm starting the IB next year and I need a little help choosing my subjects. For now, I have chosen HL English, History, and Lithuanian language. My SLs are Math Studies, Psychology, and Science. But I'm thinking about switching from Math St to Math SL even though I'm obviously going to buuuurn even in the SL Math classes. I'm really bad at math and honestly have no intention of doing anything math based in the future, because I want to go the law school (and as for studying law, I can get away with whatever the bare minimum of math study necessary to get my pre-law education over with is - in this case, Math Studies. Lol I think that's one of the reasons law school is such a popular area of study that it is one of a few professional/graduate fields of study where a math-phobic (aka me) candidate can completely avoid any exposure to mathematics after high school graduation :D) But the thing is, I'm also thinking about studying political science or international relations. I did my research and found out that for a mere bachelor's degree, I'd have to take, at a minimum, whatever math is required (at last the general requirements my college/uni requires for the degree, plus any math required to complete the major in political sience). So what do you guys think? What should I do? And what do you guys think about the whole schedule in general?
  17. I would like my EE topic to be about theoretically implementing a Universal Basic Income in the United States. I don't mean the hurdles that would exist from the perspectives of legislators, but the impact it would have on the market and the lives of individuals' from varying classes. (If you are unfamiliar with this topic, here are some cites you can check out which simplify the issue: http://www.basicincome.org/basic-income/ and https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-benefits-and-drawbacks-of-basic-income-guarantee) I am absolutely fascinated by this topic and have been researching it during my free time for a while now—even before trying to find an EE topic. Everyone's telling me to pick something which captivates me, though, so I can't get the idea of researching this extensively out of my head. If I did choose this, however, that would mean disregarding the advice I've heard everywhere of choosing a subject area first. I can't figure out which subject this would fit under best. I'm rather daunted with the prospect of committing to an economics EE as I have not taken the subject as a class before due to the lack of elective opportunity in our school. This year, I took Social and Cultural Anthropology as opposed to Chemistry or Physics. Any knowledge I have in the area stems entirely from personal interest. I have more experience in general political theory due to having a large role in the debate club. I'm unsure of how to distinguish a difference between these two subjects' criteria from the ibo manual and would appreciate any support in this task. The adviser I would receive has no impact on my decision as we are not allowed to personally choose them anyway here. Thank you for any advice you may give either directly or indirectly related to my question. Let me know if you are in need of any further clarification. Our teachers are pressuring us to have a topic by the end of the week.
  18. Hello, could you help me with my RQ? I decided to write about ritual slaughter (halal and kosher) in Poland, most likely. My RQ is now "Should the ritual slaughter be banned in Poland?" I know the question isn't very well formulated. Perhaps it would sound better with "To what extent.." rather than "should"? Or do you have any other ideas? Also, do you think it's narrow enough? I suppose it would be better to add some more details, right? Like, "religious freedom before or after animal rights?" Do you have ANY advices? Any feedback is appreciated.
  19. I decided to choose politics as my EE topic, but i am having trouble narrowing it down... I want to argue how political parties actually unite a country and make it more of a democracy, rather than disunite it.. This is pretty general, so i need some advice on how to make it more specific...
  20. -hello fellow IB´s I'm doing my Extended essay in World Studies, and the two subjects that I will be discussing are Economics and History. My RQ is somewhere along the lines of "How does the rise of Latin American (Left-wing) populism more specifically in Venezuela serve as a threat to the stability of Global Politics and the conventional economic doctrines¨" I wanna focus on how the rise of populism in Latin America (taking a deeper analysis of the situation in Venezuela) is expanding to other countires and how is changing politics. Essentially populism is a new from of communism. However, I have three questions 1: Most if not all of the example EEs on World Studies use surveys and collected data, is this mandatory? if I don't include surveys and graphs will I get a bad grade? and if I do need them what can I survey about? 2. Because im joining history and economics I must talk about a past event of populism (Im discussing Perons regime) however, the majority of my topic is going to be based on current events in Venezuela. Is this allowed? can I still do history and economics and talk about current events? 3. And finally any suggestions on my topic? is it too broad too specific? any comments or suggestions before I start writing? tips? THANKSSS GUYS!

  24. I'm doing my EE on the general topic of Israeli-Arab conflict. I have several research questions, can y'all take a look and give feedback, maybe suggest the best one to choose? Thanks! To what extent is a difference in religion a cause of Arab-Israeli conflict? To what extent have Israel’s and Palestine’s societies been affected by Arab Israeli conflict? To what extent is Arab Israeli conflict due to differences in religion and foreign policy/culture/idk? How did Arab Israeli conflict contribute to the formation of terrorists? What has prevented the resolution of Arab Israeli conflict?
