lexiiicee Posted October 14, 2010 Report Share Posted October 14, 2010 I am currently analyzing this passage from the House of the Spirits for english:After the earthquake where it talks about Jamie and Nicolas returning to Tres Marias and I was wondering if the twins could symbolize two countries that were growing with the ideas of socialism but I was not sure on what countries they would be. The passage is from the chapter Revenge and it starts with "the Twins were so different they did not even look like brothers.... and continues till "forcing to admit his error" what else do you believe the twins can symbolize or parallel? Maybe you can talk about them as foil characters who emphasize the theme that newer generations take traits from older generations and improve upon them in their unique way?
