How much harder is Math Studies compared to the pre-IB math?

Recommended Posts

Hey.

I'm in the pre-IB at the moment and after summer I will start IB.

I live in Sweden, and the math we're doing in pre-IB this year is equivalent to the Swedish math courses A and B, while Math Studies is equivalent to C.

So how much harder is math studies compared to pre-IB math really?

Studies is said to be A, B and C...

Standard: A, B, C, D, E

Higher: some more..

(not that hard, if you're good at the pre-IB stuff)

At my school 8 people from IB1 are in Maths Studies with the highest mark in the last Mid-Year exam being 50%; some of them even managed to get 1s and call Maths Studies ''hard''

...any comments?

it's either that they aren't very bright / aren't working hard...or that your school is making the exam too hard.

Math Studies is really a joke content-wise if you ask me... :)
