iBS2012
Hi,as far as I know it depends. According to my business teacher you can't simply incorporate tools such as SWOT etc. to save on the word count while adding extra information. The SWOT is a large part of analysis and therefore I would put it in the body if significant to your findings. What I did for my overall IA is incorporate is use SWOT for a more general analysis of the company, thus placing it in the appendix and referring to it throughout, while I put the more applicable tool, Ansoff's Matrix, in the main body of the essay.Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is simply what my business teacher told me and what I would call sensible.Regards Reply
Wayne
Yeah, teacher told us the same. You put SWOT Analysis in the Appendix and refer to it in the body in order to save wordsBy the way what are you guys doing for your IA? Reply
iBS2012
My question is "Should company X use franchising to achieve market growth?" Edited June 13, 2011 by iBS2012 Reply
Jaymi
I think that it is best that you put your SWOT into your main body because you can easily reference them to your appendices to which interviews/data you got them from. It is not wrong to put it into your appendices as well but it will show the examiner that you know how to construct a SWOT from the information which you have collected yourself. This also goes with the other analytical tools as well. But, sadly i am not an expert so check with your teacher first and see whether in your essay it is appropriate to put it in the body. hope this helped to a certain degree. If you need anymore help, dont hesitate to ask me. Reply

I remember with my IA, I placed all my analytical tools into my appendix so that I wouldn't go over the 2000 word count. My essay was exactly 2000 words and I wouldn't have wanted to take up any of that space with unnecessary information to be honest. I think you should put as much information into the appendixes as possible. Reply
