Halogenation of Propanone

Anyone have a literature value & source for the order of reaction of iodine in the halogenation of propanone?

Full equation is as follows:

I2(aq) + CH3COCH3(aq)+H + (aq) --> CH3COCH2I(aq) + I-(aq)

literature value of what?

and what do you mean by order of reaction? :S you mean the mechanism? is this for the further organic option or just organic chem topic?

Order of reaction - Zero order, first order, second order.

Yknow, rates of reaction stuff?

I was wondering if it said somewhere that X is Y order in Z reaction.

It's HL rates. Do you any other information by chance? Easier to figure out orders when you have concentrations to look at >.<

Some googling yielded zero order for iodine.

"This expression alone will be sufficient since the reaction turns out to be zero order with

respect to iodine concentration (i.e., n = 0). Thus the rate of the reaction does not

depend on I2"

That's kind of a cool lab after reading, you should see if you guys can do it in class :P
