ninety Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Share Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) nanaさんの気持ちはわかります。同じ境遇にいる人と話せるのが安心させますね！(*^^*)ていうか、ネットで色んなIB生のネタを見ると、「あ～IBって凄い！」と思っちゃいます。だって、IBをとってる学生は、違う場所に住んで違う学校に通ってるのに同じ事に悩んで生きてる。ここが凄い(ﾟдﾟ)！私も賢くないから心配で仕方ないです＞＜一所懸命勉強しなきゃ‥！Predicted Gradeを上げられなくても今のままで保ちたい！一緒に頑張りましょう！ファイト( ﾟ∀ﾟ)o彡°う～ん、大学はね、イギリスに留学したいなぁ。あそこの生活に憧れてますから。でもあそこの天気や料理がヤバイと人がよく言う‥まぁ、分からないこともないけど(^^ゞ 出来ればロンドンの大学の法学部に入りたいですね。nanaさんは？どこが志望？ Edited September 17, 2011 by ninety Reply Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Being Chinese gives me the advantage of being equipped with kanji, but I don't know if it will help to learn all the vocab with kanji.Could you give me some advice? I guess you know this already - it's useful to come from a Chinese background, because with knowledge of Chinese characters, you can try to guess the meaning of words. Don't rely too much on guessing though, because sometimes Chinese characters have totally different meanings in Japanese!Also, another advantage is that with knowledge of Chinese, you can guess some of the readings of kanji. As you might know already, all Japanese kanji have more than one reading - usually one or two 音読み（おんよみ） and one or two 訓読み（くんよみ）. Some special kanji can have even more than, say, six readings!音読み is the original reading of the character, imported from the Chinese language. Therefore with knowledge of Chinese, you'll be able to have an educated guess of a character's 音読み. On the other hand 訓読み is the reading that was given to the character after it was adopted into Japanese.For example, the character 水 has the 音読み 'すい', and the 訓読み 'みず'. As a Chinese speaker, the 音読み was pretty easy to guess, right?By the way, a character with MANY readings is 上.訓読み: あ （あがり、あがる、あげる）、うえ、うわ、かみ 音読み: シャン、 ショウ、 ジョウAlso, since you know Chinese, you can easily distinguish which readings of a character are 音読み and 訓読み. This is helpful when you're learning 敬語（けいご）, honorific language, when you have to prefix お or ご in front of words to make them polite. お goes with words that are read using 訓読み, while ご goes with words that are read using 音読み.
