When should one start preparing for this/sending applications, especially to Oxford? You can start working on your personal statement as soon as you've decided your major. In oxford, you need to apply for a course ie you can't apply 'undecided' like you can in US universities. Applications open in in the beginning of september and close on 15th october, and you have to apply the year before you expect to start.
