Hi there! :D

Allow me to broaden the scope of this post, could you anyone tell me about veterinary uni in the UK that are reputed and offer scholarships for international students? Though the latter isn't a must so feel free to list unis as per their standing. :)

I was puzzled about the legitimacy and it's ranking. Could you please help me with any insight about this place, have you heard of it? Is it good? etc.

Thanks! :D

Veterinary studies are not my field, but I do know that the Royal D School of Veterinary Studies enjoys an excellent reputation. It offers a 5-year undergraduate programme with a minimum entry requirement of 36 points in suitable subjects, plus work experience in veterinary practice and livestock farms.

The Roslin Institute (which is incorporated in the school) is very active, and in 2008 it was placed first among the seven UK vet schools for the quality of its research.

Unfortunately admission to the D Vet is very competitive, and the fees for overseas students are high (over GBP 100,000 for the 5 years)

Hey there! good post, btw, why do you refer to it as the Royal 'd' school of Vet Sci.?

Could you please list the top 7 universites for Vet sci in the UK?

And do any of those unis offer scholarships (hopefully merit) for international students?

Feel free to include any tiny details!

Thanks! :D

The problem is that if I type in the correct word for "D" in the name of the school, the system thinks it is a naughty word and replaces it by a string of asterisks! Anyway, you can see the full title on their website here:

http://www.ed.ac.uk/...tments/vet/home

Because I lived in Edinburgh for many years, I know that city and the D Vet's standing, but I don't know about the other UK universities offering Veterinary Science. The BVA has a list here:

http://www.bva.co.uk/1269.aspx

Unfortunately the D Vet charges "full cost" fees for overseas students, and does not have scholarships that would even begin to cover these.

Okay, taken note of. But feel free to edit your post or repost if you DO come across BVA offering universities with scholarships for Non EU chaps. Thanks !

Sure thing, Chaitanya! In the past, I have successfully recommended a few Indian nationals for UNDP Fellowships that covered their full costs for one or two years of study in Europe, Canada and the US. But these were only for young university science graduates, and I don't know of any scholarships for school leavers.

I've discovered that the RVC (London) is offering three scholarships of GBP 4000 per annum for international students entering its 5-year BVetMed programme:

http://www.rvc.ac.uk...uments/IS11.pdf

A favourable situation is that the RVC has two separate sets of places for UK/EU and international applicants, so that they are not competing against each other. In fact international students are exempt from the additional BMAT test that has to be applied to filter the far greater number of UK/EU applicants:

Good luck!
