To what extent can Shakespear's "Macbeth" be considered a retelling of the biblical events presented in "Genesis"?

I've been told that using something like "Macbeth" isn't good because thousands of people have done it before. So I don't know... My supervisor liked the topic, but when I pitched it, I started doubting it. Anyway, Should I use it?

Doing something that has been done many times by others is usually not encouraged because there is a likelihood of you copying ideas.

But as long as your idea is original and you are able to show a lot of personal engagement with your topic, putting in your opinions and views, then it should be fine.
