We can do a function of it

each paper is worth 40% of final grade

IA worth 20%

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) + (.2)(ia grade) = (final grade)

How much's a low 6 for the IA? Is it like 60% (25/40) or so?

And a safe 4 for final grade would be like 55% I believe

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) + (.2)(.6) = .55

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) + .12 = .55

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) = .43

(paper 1 grade) + (paper 2 grade) = 1.075

Suppose you do equally well on both papers:

1.075 / 2 = 0.5375

Thus you should get around 54% right for each paper.

NOTE THAT ALL NUMBERS ARE ROUGH ESTIMATIONS AND I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FINAL GRADE

So you're saying that I would need to get more than a 50% correct on the papers to get a 4? So more than a 45/90 per each paper?

I'm confused with the function because even if you plug in the max amount of points for the papers, 90, and the IA, 40, you still get your final score to be 80. You're final score should be 100 of you did perfect on both papers and IA, so I think there's something missing with your function? I'm not sure.

I'm quite convinced it's right (except for the uninformed guesses for your IA score and a final grade of 4 :D ), put in everything as PERCENTAGE

So with a 30/40 (75%) IA we have

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) + (.2)(.75) = .55

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) + .15 = .55

(.4)(paper 1 grade) + (.4)(paper 2 grade) = .4

(paper 1 grade) + (paper 2 grade) = 1

You'd need half the points of each paper or 40% of the other and 60% of the other etc. Or get a 100% correct Paper1 and don't even come to do Paper 2

I don't think a 4 would be as low as as 55% I think you should aim for roughly 60% on each paper. Regardless of subjects, last may 2011 every single subject's boundary for a 4 was in the low 60s... so to be on the safe side, do as best you can :D good luck!

Mt math teacher told me that you had to get around 50% for a 5 and approx. 70% for a 7... Anyway I am writing my exam in 2.30h  Good luck to you all!

No as far as I know or have seen a 7 is roughly 84-88% depend on how much it fluctuates. An 80/90 on a paper is about 89% so usually less about 75+ marks on 90 to get a 7.Our school used to keep the boundary as a 72 just for a 6 in order to prepare us.

Theoretically speaking, what would be the final composite score out of a 100 using your function because I can't seem to work it out.

P1:35/90

P2: 45/90

IA: 30/40

Thanks.
