iluvib123
I've been thinking of "should company X open a new store?"the company i am investigating is a restaurant with only a single branch and so far, I've thought of a location but the thing is I don't think the company really is considering to open a new branch. So my question is, do you think my topic is still do-able even though in reality the company does not really have any plans on expanding? wireman
I think you could, as long as the organisation in itself is not fictitious. However, I think you should make your RQ a little more specific. Something like :"Should company X open a new store to increase market share?" or "Should company X open a new store in XYZ City to fill the niche market"? 1 Reply
kim luffy
Hey there I agree. Your research question is not that good and you'll have to change it. Also, make sure that you can do some calculations in it because business IA's that don't have calculations don't score high. I think it is do-able because you could suggest in your conclusion (based on your results and findings) that maybe opening a new store would/would not help them based on such and such reasons. But for this, you'll have to have some qualitative data like a forecast on sales or profit. I hope i helped. If you need any help with it, you can drop me a PM. I'll be glad to help Edited June 18, 2012 by kim luffy Reply
iluvib123
thank you for ur response. i've decided that i would be using decision trees, SWOT, PEST, Porter's five forces and investment appraisal as well as an interview. is that a good range of business tools or should i consider a few more? kim luffy
Sorry for the late reply.I think those are more than enough. I think you should knock one quantitative data out cause it may add to the word count. However, if you'll be putting the SWOT and PEST analysis as appendices then that should be fine. Just remember to mention them every now and then where appropriate. Reply
