Flurpex
I am contemplating whether or not I should do my EE in music, but I don't really know what type of questions and topics we are expected to answer and research. I was leaning to the influence of a specific music on a society or historical event, but I assume that is too historical to be used. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! macrofire
whatever you do, you must be familiar with using musical proofs. you may talk about music and its effects, or its artistic value, or historical value...but you must always state its musical evidence. If you're not taking Music IB, I emphatically recommend you to go elsewhere in your EE. flinquinnster
I do think that if you're not doing music as an IB subject, don't do music for EE. General or historical accounts of music don't do well I think - it has to be a musical deconstruction - very analytical. If you're still keen, or want to look at it from a history perspective, I'm just thinking about the Beethoven Egmont Overture and its significance in the '56 Hungarian uprising (I think). Also, looking at Wagner and the Nazi connection may prove interesting to you, but it might be difficult to do well. I guess another line of inquiry would also be the impact of the Soviet regime on the music of composers such as Shostakovich could be interesting. But please, don't necessarily take my advice - I dont' do IB Music at all, so go and ask more people who do music Reply
