New Years Resolutions! What will you do?

Hmm...

Things that I want to accomplish:

-Get a 7 on my visual arts final project

-Get accepted into the summer program at Oxford

-Read more classics

-Advance past provincials for my upcoming debate tournament

-Collect more antiquerian books

-Become proficient in French, Python, and Objective-C, all of which I know and none of which I am very good at

General things that I want to change about myself:

-Stop procrastinating so much

-Stop spending so much time on the internet (lolno)

What are your resolutions?

Get enough money to pay for tuition, R&B and other expenses at Columbia...

On the other hand, I want to see how much power a student can get in a school.

As Rena said above...learn python and apply it to grab daily data from trusted statistics sites.

Build a helicopter

Beat the others in javelin at T&F

Raid my nearest university library's stash of sheet music

Break bricks with my bare hands (I swear I'm really close to doing so)

I prefer to call is a wishlist, but looks like I'll have to do some of this in the near future.

^I'd settle for a B, I'll be asking for some of your help every now and then when Calc 2 starts...

Some things I need to start working on:

  • Start reading and writing more than I do
  • Write down my goals, and break down large goals into small ones
  • Manage my time more efficiently
  • Maintain a 70% average throughout all courses
  • Get a job >.>
  • Meet more people and get involved with the school community
  • I also want a girlfriend... lol but this isn't really the priority

Does a New Year's Resolution just seem silly to me or does anyone else concur? I feel that we'd make new goals/expectations whenever we want, however we want, not because it's the start of a new calendar year.

Why Python? It's rarely practical in the professional world.

I can give you 5 of mine if you want?

One is good. wtf you have 5 girlfriends?

Actually two, three if you can. In case one of them flops on me.

@Gaby, why is he an idiot?

Cause he speaks bull****. :P He has no girlfriend, he's too ugly for that. :P

That's true. I'm quite new to OOP, and it was recommended as a good introduction. Though I don't think I'll use it for anything but a bit of casual enjoyment, it's still a language that I'd like to get better at.

What language(s) do you code in?

  • I will start eating like a human being (i.e. stop stuffing myself with food or I'll get too big for my clothes)
  • Start using more natural cosmetics - quality over quantity
  • Get these damn grades I need
  • Get some serious rest after the exams
  • Start reading more and watching less
  • Pick up running again

I quit smoking. :superman:

It's been 20 hours so far...and I'm ready to give up. :surrender:

Good luck!

I am going to eat less, up the intensity of my exercise and stop living in studious denial of pharmacology. The second two aren't so bad, but eating less... 1 day of it and it's amazing how compelling your stomach can be when it tells you you're hungry @_@

Me too :( ...5 girlfriends sounds like a nightmare unless this is like Sims 3..

My new Year's resolution is to eat more real food, as in vegetables, because apparently bread does not count as a vegetable :lies:

Have you ever heard of SAGEMATH? If not, go check it out. That alone is why I need to learn Python.

It's quite easy. You just need experience.

I'm starting to learn C1999... and it's not that bad. Why are you taking such programming courses? Are you studying pure maths in the future?

I don't take programming courses. SAGEMATH is pretty useful in terms of its functionality, and I have to learn Python to take full advantage of it.
