Hearts
The whole concept is a little confusing, so was wondering if anyone knew what the passing grade (2, or 4 etc) for Math Studies SL was?Specifically, the exams. Thanks! Reply
susanne
4. It is a C, hence a passing grade. Not sure what the grade boundary for Maths Studies is to get a 4. Reply
flinquinnster
Depends what you mean by 'passing'. I believe that you fail if you get a 1 on any subject. Aside from that, there are a list of rules that the IB has regarding the specific total scores in SL you must get for a diploma to be awarded - so depending on your other SL subjects, you could really need to get anywhere from a 2 to a 7. A good rule of thumb is that you need probably a minimum of 4 to pass, as you've really got to get just over an average of 4 (=24 for your 6 core subjects) to be on track for your diploma. I too am not sure about Maths Studies grade boundaries to get a 4. Reply
MrHiti
I believe it is more than a grade of 3. Reply
TykeDragon
4 = pass.I think the grade boundary goes down in sets of 15%... so 7 is 85, 6 is 70, 5 is 55 and 4 is 40%.40% would require you to get about 80 marks out of a potential 200. (2 x 90 mark exams, 1x 20 mark portfolio.) Knowing how to use a calculator should get you at least 40%. Don't worry too much. 1 Reply
