how to phrase the hypothesis?

Recommended Posts

can anyone please tell me how to phrase the hypothesis if the experiment is about :

  • finding out a particular value like finding out the internal resistance of a cell
  • finding out a characteristic like finding out if a compound pendulum follows simple harmonic motion

please someone help!

A hypothesis would normally be phrased as such:

If I increase/decrease [independent variable] then [dependent variable] will increase or decrease because [scientific reasoning].

I often put in some information about what I predict thr trend to be. E.g. linear, exponential. I only do this if it is based on something I can justify, such as a mathematical equation. It's not strictly nececarry, but it does give more to discuss in the conculding and evatuating sections if it is wrong.
