We're not expected to create an experiment that's never been done before.Or do you mean pre-existing as in you've done it before in class? If so, it can be depending on how much guidance you received. If your teacher told you the variables, method etc. then you cannot write a design on that experiment but you may be able to do the DCP and CE.
