Can you give some examples of older techniques similar to dry brushing?

Well you could look at many. Personally, I feel as though it reminds me of traditional Japanese art, because of its simplicity and neatness . To be honest, all of this is part of your research for your art so you should just be looking through the internet and books looking for what you need! It's all out there, just take some time to have a look. Good luck
