How to use the forum.

This forum has been created specifically so that current IB students can receive help from various IBS alumni in writing their Personal Statements, College Essay, CV or other applications they intend to submit in order to get into University or work. All the reviewers have been (successfully!) through exactly the same process and can give you plenty of advice as well as being a second pair of eyes to review what you've got! And we all know that after hours and hours spent on a personal statement, a fresh look at it is often sorely needed.
Please note from the off that this forum relies on the good will of the alumni, so please treat it with respect and allow that there may be some time before you receive a response. For this reason, it also is best to submit anything you want reviewed a decent distance before whatever your deadline happens to be!

To make use of the forum please...
1. Create a new thread, titled with what you want e.g. "Help with PS for Engineering" and also with the appropriate prefix attached. These are CV (curriculum vitae), PS (personal statement), CE (college essay) or Other if it's none of those things!
Do not attach the document you want reviewed. You should never put anything you intend to submit academically in a public arena to make sure you are never falsely accused of plagiarism.
If there is a deadline you're working towards, please also include this as we may be able to help you sooner, but bear in mind that once the deadline has passed, nobody will review your request, so please put the actual deadline and not one aimed to get a quick reply!

2. Wait for one of the reviewers to get back to you. They'll post a reply on your thread and also send you a PM. It is important that after you have received a PM you continue the correspondence via PM and do not post your application content in any public place (such as on this forum). Private messages are not public and therefore this is the safest way to send information. This is our strong recommendation and if you do not do this, on your head be it should there be any negative consequences!

3. Chat with the reviewer and hopefully receive suitably lavish lashings of their deep knowledge & wisdom! If nobody replies to you, bear in mind that people are busy and also that possibly nobody has the expertise in what you're asking for (see the list of reviewers below). We hope to respond to everyone, and we're going to do our best to make sure that is the case! Even if the respondent may not be an expert in the subject you ask for help in, they will still have experience of the system.

For reviewers:
If you are an alumnus of the IB at University with experience of doing this sort of application yourself, or any experience of reviewing them elsewhere (e.g. TSR) and you are interested in helping people out, please let me (Sandwich) know what you would be able to help out with via PM! I can then add you to the list. Equally let me know if you wish to be removed from the list.
