Taylor Bird
Hi, so im not really sure what to do, because my CAS Advisor just told us we have to do our CAS project with other CAS members for it to count. I was planning on singing for Creative, participating in school sports for action, and teaching the other kids in choir the music and notes for service but this new rule or whatever is throwing that out of the window.Help please? bluedino
For my school it was fine to do individual activities, although every semester we had to do at least one activity that was a "group" activity. I quickly skimmed through the CAS syllabus again and I don't think it explicitly says anywhere that it's necessary for all your CAS projects to be done with other CAS members, although you do need to show teamwork/collaboration for at least one long-term activity. Your service activity sounds like it could be done with another CAS member? You could try asking your CAS Advisor if it's ok that your activities are individual with one group activity.. but if your CAS advisor says No, then I guess you'll just have to follow their rules, unfortunately.. Ooh, you could also try asking your IB coordinator? If you get desperate you could read the CAS syllabus from front to end (just to make sure) and then tell your CAS Advisor that such a rule doesn't really exist for the IB.. Good luck~ Reply
Elizabeth Buhl
My school has the same demand - I did a bake-sale as a fundraiser with a classmate It doesn't have to be anything complicated My CAS project and activities are separate. I do hockey, tennis, art, tutoring and some other stuff as my regular CAS activities - my project didn't really have anything to do with this Reply
