4harrys
Do students who are doing a self taught Language A get special considerations when their work is being marked? Or is their work marked the same as 'normal' standard level students?Thank you Reply
Emmi
Why would they get special treatment because they studied something on their own? Oh wow you studied without a teacher here's a 7 just write your candidate number on the paper.Self-taught candidates are marked with the same criteria as normal standard-level candidates, regardless of what language you're studying. Make sure you understand what you're being marked on, and then do exactly that. As long as you've been producing at least semi-decent quality work for the past two years, you shouldn't be too worried. Reply

Emmi
Hey, no need for name-calling. We're all adults (or nearly adults) here Although I'm a bit confused, as I was never 'self-taught' any of my subjects in the normal sense of the word, although I did have to do a lot of chemistry on my own due to a new teacher. Care to elaborate a bit? 5 Reply
Popular Post alefal
well im glad to know that one of your subjects was self taught...you ****.4harrys, we do not condone name-calling or harassing other members on this forum. All the members here provide answers to people like you on a voluntary basis, meaning that they actually spend their free time to help others without getting anything back. We expect that all the members here respect each other and behave appropriately. Therefore, please refrain from insulting (or attempting to insult) other members, or you might be banned from this forum. As an exercise, try to put yourself in other people's shoes for a moment. What if you helped another member with an issue of theirs, and all that is returned to you is a number of insults? Would you feel great in that case? 10 Reply
teegee
Wait, but on our exam there is a ST written on it. so teachers that mark it do know we are self-taught students. Plus the fact that we study something compleatly on our own is waaaayyyyyy harder than when you're in a class!? So it would make sense if the boundries arent AS strict as those who work their way through in class... Or at least that is what I have been told, and it seems to make sense, no? 1 Reply
sameera95
GUYS, you're being a bit harsh, the OP does seem to have a point. Self studying for an exam is much more difficult than being taught the entire syllabus. Surely the IB take this into consideration while marking a paper? psychologystudent501
OP:Check in the general regulations guide published by the IB. They outline anything you could need to know in there. http://www.ibo.org/documentlibrary/regs_ibworldschools/documents/DP_regs_en.pdf Reply
