Talalwarsi5897
Hey guys,So one of my options for Chemistry HL is environmental chemistry. My teacher basically forced it upon us and i don't really mind (I'm happy it ain't Further organic, haha). For the second option I've narrowed it down to either Human biochemistry or Medicine and drugs. Now, I've gone through both syllabi and would really really love to take Medicine and drugs, but since I'm a biology HL student, Human biochemistry seemed easy as pie. so now I'm stuck between choosing something I'd love learning about and something I could easily finish in like 2 days time. Any advice on which one to take would be appreciated because I'm pretty damn confused right now.Cheers! Reply
Gaby
I've done medicine and drugs and food chem and I'd say drugs and meds isn't bad at all, I really enjoyed learning it and the material is pretty clear and. You can self-study it, most likely. But bear in mind I was SL 1 Reply
Sandwich
I did Medicine & Drugs and Further Organic (not my idea...) and definitely preferred M&D out of those two! Although having said that, the M&D questions in the exam were unexpectedly hard in my year! The past questions were stupidly easy. Anyway it was still the most interesting. 1 Reply
Emmi
My class did the medicine and drugs option as one of our two options, and it wasn't too hard if I can recall. I think they threw in a really weird question my year, but overall it's not that hard of a topic. Human biochemistry was our other option (most people in my HL class also took HL biology, so the teacher picked it for convenience for them) and it's also generally not hard, especially if you take biology. They had some weird questions on it my year, but it's typically very straight-forward. 1 Reply

Msj Chem
Just to let you know, that for those students who are sometimes left to themselves to study the options by themselves, I have produced a full set of tutorial videos for option E Environmental chemistry (SL and HL), option B Human biochemistry (SL and HL) and option F food chemistry (SL only).
