Opinion on my EE topic question

Recommended Posts

I have decided to do my extended essay in the topic of history. My topic is about how the US refused to recognize the independence movement in vietnam against french imperialism after world war I and II and by helping the french in the 1st indochina war against vietnamese nationalists, the united states effectively drove Ho to seek aid from communist governments in order to be internationally recognized as a sovereign nation. however i'm not sure whether or not the topic question is either too specific or not specific enough. Any thoughts?

Topic question: To what extent did the United States' repudiation of Vietnamese independence drive Ho chi Mihn to turn to communism in order to achieve his dream of an independent Vietnam?

I confess that I am no history scholar. However, it seems to me that your topic may be too narrow. Try to think of three points, or 'terms of measurement' that you will use to evaluate the question 'to what extent....' If you can think of three points to discuss, then you must ask yourself if, with these three points, there is enough information to write at least 3,500 words. Reading your question, I cannot immediately think of three points you could discuss. Think on it and get back to me. I really hope that this process helps! It worked for me when I was looking for my EE topic. Good luck!
