watchthisnick
I found a topic I am interested in for my IA, but I don't know if I can use it. My topic is the Eight Queen's Puzzle in chess. Basically, you have to find ways to place queens on a chess board so that they will not threaten each other. The only problem is that the work is readily accessible on Wikipedia. Would that be a problem and would my topic work for my IA? Reply
Thrashmaster
No, having answers readily available in itself isn't a problem. You aren't doing ground breaking math. Many people do IAs that outline famous proofs, for example. That topic might not be ideal anyway - if you do just take from a source, then you aren't doing the math. But I'm not sure you're equipped to find every solution, and I don't really know what you plan to explore with it anyway. Anyway, that's an interesting topic, but I just hope you know what you want to do with it. 1 Reply
