dragonator
So I have my first IB history essay due soon, and for the mark scheme bands, it says something about "successfully challenging the question". My essay question is about "the extent to which Alexander II deserves the title of Tsar Liberator" and I don't know how that kind of question can be challenged. Also, what is meant by conceptual ability? Thanks Reply
Blackcurrant
Well, you can challenge a question by concentrating on its terms and deciding whether these are problematic, overly exclusive or misleading. In this case, you could decide whether "liberator" is the appropriate term for Alex II. Or why this question should even be asked (is it overemphasized in our history-learning at IB?). Or why asking it in these terms may be misleading or restrictive or... Tell me if this helps. 2 Reply
