super_girl811
Hi everyone, I am currently studying in Year 11 and I will need to make my subject choices soon. I really like the IB course but I have been worrying over English (which I am going to choose SL for sure). English is not my native language so currently I am struggling to get an A* for my upcoming English GCSE. So I was wondering, if English SL is hard for non-native speakers? Also, I am more of a quiet person, so would it prevent me from doing well? Some advice will be much appreciated. Thanks! Reply
Sandwich
Being quiet is not an issue, although you will have to give some presentations. In terms of needing to participate in the lessons themselves, you can basically snooze through the 2 years in silence and it won't affect your grades. I would say that English SL IS hard for non-native speakers, however I also think that the level required for GCSE isn't really that much different from the level required for IB. If you're not far off an A* for GCSE then you should be fine with the IB. Besides, you've got 2 years to improve! Good luck! Reply
