Vioh
Hi , and here is the question. Find the independent term in the following expansion - ( 2x + 1 - 1/2x^2 )^6 and the answer is -59 but i have absolutely no clue how to get that answer. please help..... Here's my solution. However, i keep getting +59 as the final answer. So can you please check whether you've typed the question correctly? I mean it's possible that you have mistyped the negative sign in front of the expression, which means that the sign of the final answer is flipped. Or it's also possible that i've made a mistake in my worked solution down here. And in that case, maybe some other IBS members can spot it & fix it for me? I'm guessing that there isn't a minus sign, rather he's just using the "-" sign to point at the expression. Quick check using wolframalpha suggests that your answer is correct. I like your solution, nicely simplified and very clearly explained. 1 Reply
