turtle turtle
So, WWI caused a myriad of events such as the Great Depression, political and social upheaval etc... And while I know that the Treaty of Versailles led to the creation of the League of nations, mandate system, what else did it cause? What impact did it have on Britain, USA, Germany etc...? THanks for any replies, they all help! Reply
King112
Firstly, given the context, your question should be Paris peace Conference, not Treaty of Versailles. Germany faced huge problems. Lost all colonies, gains at Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, Huge national shame due to War Guilt Clause, Huge reparations (arguably, one of the reasons for the hyperinflation that hit Germany), Can be argued that this treaty led to the Rise of Hitler. USA, basically zilch, seeing as they quickly exited because of the internal disagreements. France and Britain got land. Danzig was made a free port under the UN.These are just random points I've shot off, in no detail, but yeah, this kinda thing happened. Reply
turtle turtle
Did the ToV benefit e.g. Britain, France economically? Reply
King112
again, Treaty of Versailles is only with Germany.yes it did. they demanded reparations from Germany. They demanded reparations from Autria-Hungary as well (albeit, a much smaller sum), but that comes under the Paris Peace conference. turtle turtle
"The Geo-Political and Economic Impact of the Treaties on Europe; the Establishment and Impact of the Mandate System"This is one of the areas explored on my exam. The first part asks for the geo-political and economic impact, so is there not much to say except impact on Germany, reparations etc? Reply
