John Kemmerer
I am currently a junior, I have taken one year of IB music HL, however during that year we have only met once a week. I would like to know if it would be possible for me next year to switch over to IB Biology HL for senior year and take the exam. The class in IB bio has spent the past year going over the first six topics. If i get permission from the Biology teacher to join next year for the second year and I study and learn the first six topics over the summer, would I be allowed to do it? Or does IB need you to take 2 years of a subject for a HL course. Reply
Emilia1320
This highly depends about your school and IB counselor, but I've heard some have done that. It doesn't hurt to ask Reply
VildeJ
I think it depends on how much time you are willing to spend catching up, and how many lab hours the bio HL class have done. For HL you need 60 hours of lab work. In my class we have spent this first year doing a lot of lab work, and a student who were to join us after the summer most likely wouldn't get enough lab hours done.
