turtle turtle
So I think that I got a 6 in my iop and I was planning to do HL English A. How is the 6 on my IOP going to affect my chances? And also, we have two English A teachers, mine marks a lot more harshly. How does the IOP make the difference in teacher marking fair? What if one teacher gives most 7s and the other gives most 5s?? Thanks Reply
ibprincess
what do you mean by planning to do hl english? your bio says hl english and i assume you did your IOP for hl english so i'm just a bit confused by what you mean there. And also chances for what? I doubt that you're teachers mark at different levels. I think most likely your teachers are marking at the correct level, and the discrepancies between classes is most likely due to difference in ability levels. IOP is moderated through IOC, as that one is marked externally as well as internally. if the markers find that in the IOC your teacher marked too harshly, your grade (and your classes grade) for IOP and IOC goes up, and same the other way around. Our class has a new teacher who marks extremely strictly, and our class has the best English students (because classes are chosen that way/streamed), so she marks harshly while the other teacher hands out high marks to everyone (the marking is actually extremely different, I know this 100% and my friend got 3 marks higher for the same commentary with her) And affect my chances of getting a 7 Thanks! ibprincess
well 70% (i think) of your final grade is marked externally and IOC is moderated so your teacher marking harsh won't matter in the end because proper ib markers will fix you up Reply
ShootingStar16
Isn't it kind of weird if your teacher marked too easy on the IOC that even your IOP mark goes down? Because you'll have different teachers in IB1 and IB2 and they'll prefer different styles Well at least at my school Reply
