AnastasiaPutri
I am taking math standard level, and for my IA I am going to do something that related with standard deviation and normal distribution. Can someone please comment whether this is to easy for standard level math? Reply
UncleChopChop
It sounds reasonable to me - you might be able to take things a bit further by considering the calculus of the normal distribution in some manner. (Perhaps you can approximate the normal cumulative distribution function with a Taylor/Maclaurin Series? I've not looked into it but I think it should be possible. The maths involved won't be all that difficult, but it will impress the markers - if you want any further detail let me know). How are you going to apply this though? Remember that personal engagement comprises a substantial portion of marks - so it needs to be related to a topic of interest outside of mathematics ideally. Statistical modelling is pretty broadly applicable, so I doubt you'll have trouble here - what are you passionate about? Whatever it is, mathematize it.
