ilynotiloveyou
Dear all, At our school we have been panicking about the supposed page limit for the internal assessments. It's a new requirement apparently, but tables and graphs take up way too much space don't you agree? Please let us know if this has been the case for you as well! Pretty much all the IB students at my school are panicking! Thanks! Reply
kevG
I don't know about Biology or Chemistry but for Physics and Math the page limit is 12, but I'm pretty sure it is the same for all of the sciences.I just compiled my tables/graphs closely together as possible for my Physics IA. The00333
Math the page limit is 12 Wait, are you sure about this? I thought it was "suggested" for it to be 6-12 pages. My math teacher told me to go over for the sake of my graphs being big enough to read. Reply
Msj Chem
I wouldn't recommend going over the page limit. It is stated in the guide that excessively long lab reports will be penalized in the communication criteria. And this comes directly from the IB:'Although there is a requirement for more data and more reported detail there is a 12 page length limit. This means that students have to be intelligently concise and the current trend for hugely repetitious use of cut and paste for calculations or procedural details and the inclusion of pages of data-logged data should be avoided.' PandaFromMars
My physics teacher said it has to be between 6-12, you can't go over the limit. Reply
batool
Sciences limit is 12 but I'm positive you can go over 12 pages for Maths. My teacher even recommended that those students looking at level 7s go beyond that for clearer data presentations. Reply
wojtek
Do you include title page in your IA or is it only needed for EE? Does the reference page/title page (if needed) count to the page limit? Reply
kevG
Reference and title page isn't counted in your page count Reply
batool
Reference and title page isn't counted in your page countWe were told that for the sciences, it does count....... Sigh................... Reply
wojtek
Reference and title page isn't counted in your page countWe were told that for the sciences, it does count....... Sigh................... Yeah, the same here! That's why they told us no to create any title page so that we have more space for our investigation Reply
kevG
My teachers told me that they wouldn't count the title or references and purely grade the content of the paper. Reply
Kayleigh Brown
I know this is a bit late to the thread, but my physics IA is exactly 12 pages long and my teacher is telling me that I need to add a Works Cited page to it. Would that be counted towards the overall page limit and make me have to shorten my paper itself?
