Stefanie92
I only just started thinking about my EE and I want to do it on biology and something to do with designer babies. Does anyone have any ideas on what specific questions I could do about that? And do you think it's such a good idea to do it on something with so much ethical debate going on? Stefanie: I think that sounds like a great topic, when I first read it, it sounded really interesting to me and I even searched it on the net! Here are a couple of links I saw that you've probably already checked out, but anyway They might not be much help with your EE, since they're just a little research to help you decide whether or not you want to do this topic http://www.bionetonline.org/English/content/db_cont1.htm http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...,989987,00.html http://www.spiked-online.com/Articles/00000006DD57.htm http://www.actionbioscience.org/biotech/agar.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designer_babies http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programmes...g_summary.shtml http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3913053.stm http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_an...icle1706614.ece As for whether or not you should do such a debated topic, I think it is best for you to ask your IB Coordinator. rushinn
I've changed my EE topic about 5 million times. This is what I've decided on:(feedback would be appreciated)To what extent did Jean Jacques Rousseau's political, social, and religious ideology impact Maximilien Robespierre and the various Jacobin Clubs? It might get more narrow as I start to do more research, though. I have the same kind of concern for your topic deedoz. Edited May 16, 2008 by Bandev Reply

Rennie
So far my topic is: 'How does temperature affect the antimicrobial properties of honey?' but it's subject to change. I have done some research but I have my end of year exams next week. After that, however, I'm free to work on my English coursework, my EE and my group 4... Stefanie92
I'm having trouble deciding what subject to do my EE on because I've always been interested in human biology and nutrition but most of my ideas for experiments can't be done in school and will need experimentation on humans or will clash with chemistry. The simpler option is probably to do something more based on bacteria and plants but I'm not very interested in it.I'm also considering English as a topic which is kind of strange for me because I don't exactly excel in it but I randomly have this passion for Jane Austen. Any advice on which I should choose? Or any ideas on interesting but do-able biology topics? Because I'm also a little worried that Jane Austen is too common and probably will be considered boring or unoriginal by the marker ><Stefanie:I think that sounds like a great topic, when I first read it, it sounded really interesting to me and I even searched it on the net! Thanks for all the websites and info! But sadly I just read the marking schedule and it turns out ethics/religion/politics are all definite nosSince then I've been stressing a lot about my topic and reconsidering even doing bio. I posted a comment just then about choosing between English and bio... hard decision Reply

monica
Hey! In our school they just started talking about the extended essays. My problem is that I always thought I would do mine in Economics, but now my teacher had a heart attack and I don't think he'll be able to supervise. Plus I don't have a topic and I'm a little worried about the investigation part...anyway, many question marks involved.Another option would be English B. I didn't think too much of it yet but some ideas would be: - Addiction (of any type) in Great Britain and its influence on literature (maybe with an accent on Trainspotting) - Something that has to do with cartoons and their influence on children's development (but this doesn't sound like a topic for English anymore )I also wanted to ask if it a requirement for the essay to be on culture, literature OR the other one (I just found out about it today, so I'm not very informed) or it can be a merge of two. Because I would like to focus more on the cultural aspect. And also, what should the investigation consist of?Thanks a lot. And by the way, I am kinda' scared right now, after seeing your topics. They all sound really professional Reply

Tilia
At least in my school, they want us to write the EE in a higher subject, but is that really an advantage? Also, has anyone here did an EE in philosophy and how was that? Reply
