Does CAS carry over if you repeat a year?

My friend is banned on all of his IB Survival accounts, so cannot post this.
He started IB last year but instead of continuing to his second year of IB this year, he restarted his first year of IB this year, as he was not getting the grades he wanted.
Anyway, do the activities he did last year count towards his CAS for this year, since he technically restarted IB?

yes the cas hours does carry over

Logically, they would not carry over. Just like all his assessments and tests, he has to redo his CAS hours as all his previous grades and results are wiped.

Ask your CAS coordinator. CAS is very school-specific and a lot depends on your CAS coordinator/IBC.

a girl at my school started ib in england and did a semester then moved to australia so she restarted and her first semester of cas activities from her first school didn't carry other so i doubt they would, but check with your cas coordinator

I am repeating my IB year as I joined in the middle of the school year and according to my IB coordinator she said the CAS hrs will carry on and I can even complete my CAS this year and not have to worry about it next year which is what I am doing. 

I joined my school in Feb ending when thee school year started in Aug ending and its March and I have almost completed my CAS hrs and started planning my ee and looking up ideas for tok presentation
