Anna Bibikova
Hi, I really need help. I'm doing my extended essay in the Biology area and I thought the biology extended essay was a research paper with a small experiment to back up the research but turns out, the experiment is the entire essay. So I really need to pick an experiment NOW. My topic is about leaky gut and digestive issues and natural ways to treat it and help the small intestine heal itself. Some experiment topics I was thinking about doing were: The links between food processing and leaky gut disorder (but i feel like this is pretty common) Links between digestive disorders and fitness levels Good probiotics to take when you have leaky gut or anything else like this tell me more ideas Also, I don't know how I would even do any of these experiments. Are we allowed to test on mice or other living things? How would I even measure the links between digestive disorders and fitness levels and food processing?? I'm so confused! Any help is appreciated! Reply
Kroinky
You probably need to switch topics. You can't do an experiment on your stomach or intestine cus well, you're no scientist... And you can't use mice or other living things because... you're a not qualified scientist So your experiment I think will be very hard, and if it was to be possible, wouldn't be great. Try testing something that isn't necessarily "Living". Like I did an experiment once in Bio where I extracted DNA from different fruits and added different chemicals to see if there were different effects. Then I linked that to OUR DNA. Something like that. Reply

Extracting DNA from fruits is pretty easy. Just search up videos on YouTube or look on the web. There are so many different guides. It's a cool experiment that although easy, you can go beyond with. You'll need ethanol, smashed up fruits, and other stuff I can't remember. It'll also take 1-2 cus you need to freeze it and stuff. Reply
