allthebest
How do you find the mode of the poisson distribution when the mean value and P(X>2)=0.6 is given? I think we're supposed to use GDC but I don't know how... I tried using the graph but I didn't get it.. Please help! Reply
kw0573
From formula of Poisson distribution, find mean or expected value, that is P(X = 0) + P(X = 1) + P(X = 2) = 0.4 If mean is decimal, mode is E(X) rounded DOWN; if mean is an integer, mode is E(X) - 1. You may shown this is the case by putting x = 0, 1, 2 ... and P(X = x) and plot to verify. Reply
