My class has a discussion about "ways of knowing" coming up and were supposed to discuss which way we think is better, reason or perception.(we're just focusing on these two for now and will discuss emotion and language later) Which do you guys think is better, reason or perception, and why?

The debate itself is rather flawed, because reason is the ability to use premises to come to conclusions, whereas sense perception is a means of getting new premises. Both are useless without the other. If we're talking about usefulness factor, perception cannot interpret, so reason would be IMO the more important of the two, because it allows us to look objectively, where our senses are everything but objective.
