Hi,
Reading literature is important but often insufficient to do well at the exams and that's what we all want (do well). Therefore when we were asked to buy Jane Eyre i wanted to supply it with a study guide. There is plenty of them on the market and I wanted to ask, form your personal experience, which are the best? I mean which publishing house/ series offers the best study guides, thus i will do well and understand everything.
Here are some of the examples (for Jane Eyre). Which of these ould you advise me to buy?:

Literature courses (are you SL/HL, Lit or Lang/Lit?) are structured so that each work is only tested in one of your assessments. It's unlikely that it'll be the paper 2 and you can check with your teacher if Jane Eyre is a work you need for the final. In other words, you are more likely to be tested as a take-home assignment or as an interactive oral. For the works I have studied at Literature HL, about 5-6 works I did not use for any IB assignment. So what I suggest is that you first obtain a cheap version (such as from school or library), then once you know how you will be assessed you can better decide what books to buy. If it turns out that the work is only for a in-school not IB assignment, then it's probably not worth while to buy a study guide for every work you study.

I'm doing english a lang lit sl  (or whatever is the proper name of the course). According to the  outline i got, this Jane Eyre is a part 4 (critical study) of the course.  This is one of two literary texts which we will read. They want me to explore the texts in detail, analyze themes, ethical stances, values, make appropriate use of literary terms.  So far my grades hasn't been that good, thus i thought about buying a nice guide to the book we are asked to read.

The part 4 text is primarily used for individual oral commentary and possibly for a written task. I am not familiar with any of the study guides but you should be mindful of what the goal is (provide commentary on a sight passage) and you should choose your book accordingly.
