My current topic is quite abstract (logs and sin/cos/tan of complex numbers), and the actual reason I chose it was because I was just wondering what would happen if I used complex numbers as opposed to real numbers. Any type of exploratory IA, such as yours of functions of complex numbers), is likely to score high in this criterion.
