EEandTOKforlife
Hello All, As the May 2017 exams are coming up I have a question regarding English Literature A at Standard Level. I wonder whether it is worth writing about 3 texts in the paper 2 essay or whether 2 texts are sufficient in order to achieve a high mark. Nomenclature
Unless the question specifically specifies that the answer should include three (there have been a few questions like this on past exams, but the grand majority do not), two works are sufficient to get a high mark. EEandTOKforlife
Okay, thank you for your help. So I'm assuming it is still worth studying all three texts in depth for the exam instead of just two. Reply
Nomenclature
You're exactly right. You don't know what the questions are going to be about, so studying all the works you read as a class will prepare you best. If you read two works, you won't be able to choose which two works you want to write about. Some works go better with certain questions. Or, you might just not like a certain work and not feel comfortable writing about it. In that case, you can decide to not write about it and instead write about other works that you liked/that better fit the question. Reply
