Sn1 and Sn2 reactions in SL?

They are necessary, although you don't need to go into as much detail compared to HL.  What you need to know mostly consists of what the reactions are and the major differences between them (e.g. Sn1 is unimolecular, while Sn2 is bimolecular, and the mechanism behind each reaction).  Check the official IB chemistry syllabus to see what you need to know specifically

Are Sn1 and Sn2 reactions necessary for Chemistry SL? Thanks in advance.

At SL, you only need to know that halogenoalkanes undergo SN reactions to form alcohols. The mechanisms and kinetics (unimolecular and bimolecular) are not required at SL.
