Befuddled
Hi guys, So I'm getting a little tight on space for my EE. Is it okay to exclude all the in-text citations from the total word count? Will the IB penalise me? (We use Harvard btw) Something like this: I am giving you an example (Befuddled, 2017). Is it okay to count it as 6 words instead of 8? Gaby
Check with your EE supervisor, but at my university, where we use Harvard as well, in-text references are excluded from the word count, and your example would count as 6 words. Nomenclature
In-text citations do not count against the word limit (for all IB assignments). That is a definitive answer. P.s. A really good way to quickly count all the words that are in-text citations is use the ctrl+f function to search the document and then just search for an open parenthesis like this one ( and then go through each making sure they're citations and not asides.
