IBlearner73
Hi, I am thinking about which IA topic I should choose for Chemistry IA. Our teacher gives an emphasis on doing something very original, but I just cannot find a unique topic. Is originality really of such importance, or is it important to do a complex topic and make an excellent report out of it, without inventing some new approaches, procedures, using unique materials, etc. Thank you!!! shellziess
It should not be exactly original and you can easily score high marks if you do an easier experiment but have a good analysis in your IA. 1 Reply
kw0573
Personal engagement, which is somewhat a measure of originality and own input, is only 2 marks out of 24 in the IA. It's generally not very difficult to score at least 1/2 in the criterion. Edited July 18, 2017 by kw0573 1 Reply

My IA experiment is stupidly simple but still scored 23/24. How well you write up the report and via your own brand repackaging - that makes it "unique" - is what makes or breaks the IA. 1 Reply
