roseied
I am in the middle of writing a literature EE, focusing on how the unreliability of narrators effects the character arcs of the main characters in The Silver Linings Playbook and the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. There is a quote I want to use as textual evidence to support one of my points from the Silver Linings Playbook that has the f-word in it. Since it's a direct quote, can I put it in my essay, or do I have to censor it? I can't find anything online about IB's profanity policy. If no one knows, I'll just use a different quote, but I like this one a lot. Reply
Blackcurrant
It's all language. It's English. And it is a quote. It's all good. You have nothing to worry about. Edited August 8, 2017 by Blackcurrant 2 Reply
mac117
I also believe you should be more than fine with the quote. Since it is literature, there should be no reason as to why you shouldn't be able to use the direct quote. After all, the author found it important in order to use it in the first place 2 Reply
