I am thinking of doing ia math in trigonometry. I am interested in proving/remaking of a formula; Al Biruni's geodesy formula. The question is, is that proving one's formula is decent for math sl and will it be likely to score high score?

I don't think proving this specific formula is enough, because the derivation seems slightly under par. There's an example of proving cubic formula, which is closer to SL level. I would try add content in addition to trig.
