Biology SL IA Human Physiology/Option C Help

Hi everyone!

Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for a few things about my IA. My IA topic is looking at the relationship between time and memory recollection using recall memory and a time gradient.

1) Does anyone actually know whether this is a good IA topic? My teacher says yes, and so does the head of Biology IB at my school, but lots of people on this site and others have advised heavily against this sort of topic?? Any experience/suggestions would be helpful concerning this.

2) Is there a standardised consent form that I should be using for this Biology IA? I seem to be able to find those relating to Psych. but not to Biology. Can anyone help with this?

3) How do i determine the number of tests that I should conduct? The only thing that I can find from the IB states ">30" but that seems highly vague and unclear. Is there some actual way that I should determine the sample size for my IA?

Cheers

Personally, I think this topic relates more to psychology rather than biology. Could you explain how you plan on relating this to human physiology? Memory recall is quite heavily related to psychology and not really biology as such because as far as I know there's not much of a biological explanation for memory, but correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm not sure about consent forms for biology, but for psychology, we had to write up our own consent forms.

In terms of how many tests, you should have at least 5-6 changes to your independent variable and 5-6 repeats.

Hope this helps!
