rahnya
Hey, I'm really interested in doing my EE on Lolita. My supervisor tells me that I should begin research into the controversy surrounding it, and how it was banned in some places at release. I have found many intriguing primary sources for this, but I don't see how this could be a literature essay? I'm really scared of falling off track and research lots on a topic that I can't write about because it's not to do with literature, rather the context for the book. Do A1 EEs have to be strictly analysing literary elements in a book(s), or is a contextual essay in relation to the book also possible to do? Thanks Reply
kw0573
In my understanding, context of a literary work only goes up to publication. It does not generally include the critical responses or reception of a work. I do not think EE is suitable to focus on countries banning a work.
