dripdropdrip
I want to do my IA on cantilevers using a wooden ruler (I know, overdone) but I'm having trouble formulating an actual question. I already know what variables I want to change, would my research topic just be something like, "the factors that effect the period of a cantilever" or something like that? Also, is there a way for me to make this appropriate for HL? Or if I want to do HL, should I do my IA on another topic entirely? Reply
kw0573
There is no requirement that HL IAs must be more "advanced" than SL ones. As long as your topic is not trivial, if should be ok. In my understanding, only periods for a pendulum and mass-spring are explicitly given in syllabus so your topic should be fine. I suggest that you choose to specify factors you wish to investigate, in the topic. 1 Reply
