URGENT HELP NEEDED - (WA) English LIT SL 1500word literary essay

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need to write a written assignment for the external assessment which is the 1500 word literary essay on a work studied in part1. I'm writing my essay on Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman. My guiding question for the essay is "How does Dorfman create conflict between Paulina & Gerardo through the use of dramatic dialogue and how is it resolved?" I plan to constrain it to act 1 scene 1 while linking it to other parts of the play. Do you think that this is an appropriate topic? And I'm not sure about the structure of the essay. What do I start writing with? Please help ASAP!! Thanks

Shorten your topic (you are answering your question already in the title) so that you examine conflict only. Also, why are you focusing on only one tiny part of the play? This seems rather limiting.

What do you mean? Can you give me an example. And what do I start writing with?

i think you should probably delete the 'how is it resolved' bit bc that wil stretch out your essays too much and you won't be able to go into your points in depth.

You can either structure your essay chronologically, thematically or technically (by techniques), in this case it seems like chronologically is a good choice but our school isn't doing that book so I haven't read it.

Start by listing the points you want to make, best to limit it to around three or four main points with supporting quotes and sub-points and writing an intro to summarise it, it'd be much easier from there on.
